Chef Alex

Chef Alexander Lord-Flynn has opened and consulted on restaurants across the United States, from the West Coast to New York City. His first restaurant opening, Garageland in Spokane, Washington—where he served as opening chef and helped physically build the bar and kitchen- Garageland was recognized by National Geographic as the most “hipster” bar in America.

That first experience made something immediately clear: great food, great service, and a great location are not enough. Successful restaurants are built on systems, financial discipline, and operational clarity—skills that are learned, not inherited.

After returning to the East Coast, Alexander founded AchefA Consulting (now chefconsults), a name inspired by a nickname he earned while working as sous chef at a private Rockefeller family club in upstate New York. Through AchefA, he helped open new restaurants and guide existing ones, contributing to the growth and resilience of the New York City dining scene.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alexander worked closely with operators to adapt quickly and survive. His work included developing to-go concepts, designing compliant street dining layouts, creating safety and sanitation protocols, renegotiating vendor contracts, streamlining purchasing systems, resolving health department violations, and implementing workplace training programs. He also supported restaurants with menu development, PR events, website design tied to social media, increased web traffic, and site selection throughout the New York region.

He is currently available for short- and long-term consulting engagements throughout the Country, offering hands-on, practical solutions for restaurant openings, turnarounds, and operational improvement, as well as select private chef appearances.
